Follow this spring cleaning checklist to clean and organize your home and your life so you can enjoy all summer has to offer.<\/p>\n<p>Household<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Clean windows and glass doors to let all of that spring light in.<\/li>\n<li>Dust light fixtures and lamps to create a welcoming ambience in the evening.<\/li>\n<li>Polish fixtures in your home, including doorknobs, window latches and cabinet handles\/knobs.<\/li>\n<li>Declutter the junk drawer \u2013\u2013\u00a0get rid of anything you no longer use.<\/li>\n<li>Reorganize cupboards and kitchen drawers, placing commonly used items in easy-to-reach spots.<\/li>\n<li>Give tile and wood floors a thorough cleaning.<\/li>\n<li>Reduce hay fever symptoms by deep cleaning rugs and carpets.<\/li>\n<li>Test and replace smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, keeping in mind most alarms last about 10 years at most.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Furniture and D\u00e9cor<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reconfigure your bookshelves and accessories to refresh each room\u2019s style.<\/li>\n<li>Polish wood furniture, and clean upholstered furniture.<\/li>\n<li>Visit garage sales and discount stores as well as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ebay.com\">eBay<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.etsy.com\/\">Etsy<\/a> to find interesting and complementary furnishings and accessories to update rooms.<\/li>\n<li>Arrange cut flowers or live blooming plants in strategic locations to add color and a fresh scent.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Closets<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Shift spring\/summer clothing to the front of your closet. Move winter clothing to the back.<\/li>\n<li>Start organizing one shelf at a time so the task doesn\u2019t become overwhelming.<\/li>\n<li>Check clothing for damage, and have everything mended and dry cleaned so all is fresh and ready to go.<\/li>\n<li>Start a box for donating clothes and accessories you haven\u2019t worn or used in the past year.<\/li>\n<li>Sort through the medicine cabinet, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/ForConsumers\/ConsumerUpdates\/ucm101653.htm\">take expired and unused medications to the proper disposal sites<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Container Organization<\/p>\n<p>Finding and using the right tools is important to successfully organize your home and simplify keeping everything in the right space.
